The rice genome project has sequenced the genome of Oryza sativa Japonica group cv. Nipponbare, and the sequence is now released as the IRGSP build 5 genome. Although the seqeunce is highly stringent, there are still a number of seqeuncing errors and some differences among the same Nipponbare strain .. [more]s maintained in differrent regions. We reasequenced Oryza sativa Japonica group cv. Nipponbare that has been maintained in our institute, Iwate Biotechnology Research Center. We detected a substantial number of SNPs and short indels between the IRGSP build 5 genome and our Nipponbare genome. Many of the variants were from chromosome 4, indicating that the genomes of the two rice strains slightly differ, especially in the chromosome 4. [less]
