Abstract |
A cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803, the first photosynthetic organism whose genome was sequenced at 1996 (Kazusa strain), is a model organism for basic research for photosynthesis, evolution and molecular genetics. However, it is widely known that there are a lot of substrains of Synechocys .. [more]tis sp. PCC 6803, such as glucose-tolerant strain (GT) and PCC strain. Here, we performed resequence analysis of the genomes of several substrains (GT-I, PCC-P, and PCC-N) and compared these resequenced data with that of the Kazusa strain in the database. According to this comparative analysis, we found that each substrain has specific mutations which are the potential contributors of individual phenotypes. [less]
